Dixie was born on August 2, 2001, which by co-incidence, is also her Uncle Bret's birthday.
She brought joy to all of us who knew her during her short time with us.
She loved Spongebob Squarepants, dancing to the theme song for the TV show "COPS", and best of all, she loved to go for rides on Grandpa's boat.

Sadly, Dixie was killed by her Step-Father in the early morning hours of October 28 2003. She awoke early that morning as he was getting ready to go to work. For reasons known only to him, he lashed out and beat her severely. Her mother, recuperating from knee surgery, awoke later in the day to find she was unresponsive. Despite valiant efforts by Mountville Fire Company, Lancaster Emergency Medical Services, and the Staff and Doctors at Lancaster General Hospital, she never regained consciousness. Her step-father, Robert Hildebrand, pleaded guilty to her murder and was sentenced to 20-40 years in prison. The maximum penalty allowed by law.

After her death her Great Aunt Katie, a teacher, and two friends created this memorial fund in her name.
